To become a Wing Chun fighter, the guidance of a good teacher is paramount through the step by step process. 'A Little Idea' is implanted in the mind of the student. Though 'It' will grow on its own, because of external influences (television, movies, internet, peer pressure, ego, etc), constant adjustments and corrections are needed to ensure 'It' grows the 'Leung Sheung Way'. With a good foundation in the basics, the student is capable of defending themselves. Confidence and humility are instilled unknowlingly by the student. They will come to understand and accept their strengths and limitations and learn to optimize within those parameters. This is where the underdog has a fighting chance. We're classical in our methods, but understand the modern day aspects of martial arts as well. The training is with realism in mind and not based solely on theory. The old masters knew what they were doing when they created Wing Chun. Everything is contained in the forms and drills. It leaves no secrets but the students willingness to keep placing the puzzle pieces together until the full picture is developed. That's where our interpretation of Kung Fu comes into play. "Skill aquired through hard work" With a combination of hard work, dedication and comprehension, skill can be achieved. Difficult, as life can also be at times, but not impossible. Kung Fu as a means of self awareness, self confidence and self discipline. And, of course, self defense. |
